About Richard
Richard went to the independent bar in November 2013. Richard’s chief passion in the law is administrative/ public law and he enjoys undertaking judicial review work but equally so practising in the equitable jurisdiction. He has been studying part-time as a doctoral candidate at AUT University; he has recently had his thesis accepted for examination. The thesis is “Securing the Prompt Judicial Resolution of Religious Property Disputes in New Zealand”. Richard has completed a re-issue of “Religion and Religious Institutions” (Laws of New Zealand, LexisNexis NZ Ltd) which works in well with his thesis and regular articles in the Charities edition of the NZLJ (where he focuses on religious issues and sometimes sporting or more general charitable matters). He has been contracted to write the new Thomson Reuters text "Associations Law in New Zealand" (due for completion in late 2019). Richard is a keen former footballer, now mainly watching rugby but also rugby league and Aussie Rules (having played rover/pocket for the New Zealand “Falcons”) and enjoys fishing, snorkelling and watching his sons play basketball, rugby, tennis and cricket. |
